PATANYX is a web browser made by EdgeXene LLC. This policy explains what personal data we receive when you use the PATANYX Browser, our website patanyx.net and PATANYX Search at patanyx.com, why we receive it, who else receives it, how long we keep it, and your rights.
EdgeXene LLC, a limited liability company organized in Indiana, United States, makes PATANYX and is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Your use of PATANYX is also governed by our Terms of Use. Our contact details are at the end of this policy.
The browser keeps your saved passwords, bookmarks, download records, saved pages, settings and other browser data on your device, and does not keep a browsing history. Your saved passwords, a VPN configuration you import and, in PATANYX Nabu-X (still in development; see Private Chat below), your contacts and chat keys are encrypted under your passphrase, which we never receive. If you forget it, we cannot recover it.
Translating a page, reading text from images and checking sites against the blocklist and the tracking list all happen on your device. You can delete your data at any time from within the browser or by deleting the PATANYX application data folder.
The browser contacts our server at patanyx.edgexene.io to check for updates, to download them, and to fetch its blocklist and safety advisory. It downloads updates on its own unless you switch that off. Our server receives your IP address and the time of each request. When the Linux browser checks for updates, the address it asks for shows whether your copy is version 1.0.6 or later, or an earlier version. When you download an update, our server also receives the version you are updating from. These requests are not logged. A request that fails may leave an error record that includes your IP address (section 5).
When you start the browser without opening a link, it opens PATANYX Search at patanyx.com. Requests from PATANYX to patanyx.com and patanyx.net can carry a mark showing they come from PATANYX, and the start page request carries a second mark showing it was opened at start. Every copy of PATANYX sends the same marks, so they do not identify you. Opening the start page leaves no record of your IP address; it is counted in the visit records described below.
The first time you translate into a language, the browser downloads a language pack from models.patanyx.net. Our server receives your IP address, the time and the language pair you chose, never the page you are reading. These downloads are not logged; one that fails may leave an error record. Cloudflare also receives the request (section 4).
If you use the contact form, we receive the category, subject and message you write, and your name and email address if you choose to give them. Your message passes through Cloudflare and is delivered by email to our mailbox at Proton. Our server does not store it. Your IP address is held in memory to limit abuse and deleted within two hours.
Donations and Premium purchases are paid on a Stripe page, and Stripe collects your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive a record of the payment, which can include your name and email address, the amount, the date and the card brand and last four digits, never your full card number. Donating is optional and unlocks nothing.
Premium is sold as a prepaid term. For each license we keep a license identifier, when it was issued, the dates of the term, a payment reference and the license token we issued. When you activate Premium on a device, in the browser or on our offline activation page, we receive your license token and a random identifier your copy creates for that device, and we keep the license identifier, that device identifier and the date, so that each license stays within its five-device limit. Releasing a device sends the same again. After activation, your license is checked on your device. None of these records includes your IP address.
Private Chat is part of PATANYX Nabu-X, a separate build that is still in development and not available for download yet. The PATANYX Browser you can download today contains no chat code and never contacts our chat relay.
While Private Chat is on, your hash numbers are visible to other devices on your local network, so contacts there can reach you directly. They are not sent to us.
While PATANYX Nabu-X is connected to our chat relay at relay.edgexene.io, the relay receives your IP address, your Premium license, your hash numbers (up to 200) and, for each message, the hash numbers it travels between, but never the message itself. It stores no messages, and after you disconnect it keeps nothing that identifies you, apart from error records and the list described below. It uses your license to limit how many connections one license may hold at once. If we end a license's relay access under our Terms of Use, we keep that license's identifier on a list of refused licenses until we restore access, and no longer than 30 days after the license's term ends. If you connect to a relay run by someone else, it receives the same things except your Premium license.
When you visit patanyx.net or patanyx.com, our servers receive your IP address and your browser's request.
Requests to patanyx.net and models.patanyx.net, including forms such as the contact form and the offline activation page, pass through Cloudflare (section 4). Updates and activation from inside the browser do not.
PATANYX Search at patanyx.com has no accounts, sets no cookies and runs no advertising or tracking scripts. For a weather search, our server matches the place you type and sends the forecast provider (MET Norway, or the US National Weather Service in the United States) only a location rounded to about 11 kilometers, never your IP address or anything about your browser. News and AreaGram show headlines from publishers' public feeds and may show images hosted by the publishers; those images, and articles you open, come from the publishers, which receive your IP address as any site you visit does. The sources we use are listed on our Sources page.

You can withdraw consent at any time by writing to compliance@edgexene.io, without affecting anything done before.
Depending on where you live, you have the right to know what personal data we collect, use and disclose, to access, correct, delete or receive a portable copy of it, to restrict its processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Residents of California, Indiana, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and other US states with privacy laws can also opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising and profiling. We do none of these, and PATANYX makes no automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object to that processing at any time, on grounds relating to your situation, by writing to compliance@edgexene.io.
To make a request, write to compliance@edgexene.io. We respond within 30 days. We must be able to verify that a request comes from you, usually by checking it against messages you have sent us. Because there are no accounts we usually hold little, and a visit record holds no IP address, so we can find it only if you tell us the time and page of your visit. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. We keep payment and license records for as long as section 5 says even if you ask us to delete them, because tax and accounting rules require it. If you ask us to delete an entry on the list of refused licenses, we may keep it until we restore access, and no longer than 30 days after the license's term ends. Exercising a right never changes how PATANYX works for you.
PATANYX sends the Global Privacy Control signal to every site you visit, and you cannot switch it off. On Windows it is sent in both of the ways a site can read it; on Linux, in one of them. PATANYX does not send the older Do Not Track signal, and our websites do not respond to Do Not Track signals.
EdgeXene does not currently have a representative in the EU; you can contact us directly.
In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, from you, your device and, for payment records, Stripe, for the purposes in section 3, and disclosed them only to the service providers in section 4:

We have not sold or shared personal information in the past 12 months, do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16, and collect no sensitive personal information. You will not be treated differently for exercising your rights.
Your saved passwords are encrypted on your device under your passphrase. Updates and blocklists are signed and checked by the browser before use, each release you download is signed, and the browser's connections to our servers are encrypted. No security measure is perfect; please report a vulnerability to compliance@edgexene.io. If a breach affects personal data, we will notify the relevant regulator within 72 hours where the law requires it, and affected people without undue delay where there is a high risk to them.
Our servers are in Finland, in the European Union. EdgeXene is a US company, so data may be accessed from the United States. Our hosting provider processes data in the EU under a GDPR data processing agreement. Proton is in Switzerland, which the European Commission recognizes as providing adequate protection. Transfers to Stripe and Cloudflare in the United States rely on Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.
PATANYX is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, or under the age of digital consent in their country where that is higher. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to compliance@edgexene.io and we will delete it. PATANYX does not filter content by age.
We may update this policy as PATANYX changes. We will change the date at the top of this page, and announce material changes in the release that brings them. This version replaces the policy dated October 6, 2026.
